Looking for BC infotech teachers to participate in project with preservice teacher

Hi,

I am a preservice teacher at UVic majoring in science and Info-tech (ICT), and am looking for BC Info-tech teachers who would like to participate in a project with me this summer.  The input needed for the project is minimal - and the resources you could receive after are definitely worth it.

If you are interested - please check out my blog (part of my courses).  Some of you may wonder if this is for real ... my teachers are Valerie Irvine - (twitter handle - @_valeriei) and Jillianne Code (twitter handle - @jilliannec)... you can find me at @tinaoke.

Thank you

Hello Tina,

Sounds like fun, I am in. Please contact kstooshnov@hotmail.com for any follow-up.

  1. How long have you been teaching Inf0-tech 10? Have not started teaching high school yet, but I will soon finish my Master of Educational Technology from UBC (two more courses to go) and I want to break into this field.
  2. What have been your success and struggles teaching this in this area? Two projects: Web Wandering Workshop and Virtual Globe 3.0, have been enthusiastically encouraged, but still need resources to make them viable teaching tools.
  3. An outline of your course (details of what you teach). Web Wandering: safe on-line activities for elementary students to create and to connect. Virtual Globe 3.0: still building a Virtual Learning Environment for presenting and teaching Shakespeare's plays, using yet-to-be-developed Semantic Web programming.

Thank you for this opportunity,

Kyle

Hello Tina;

I am a Career Technical Educator transitioning to a "CTE Info Tech" label for my clear teaching credential (O.G. a "Vocational Education" designation).  Honestly, I'm unfamiliar with what you refer to as a "BC" Info Tech educator :) ??  I have approx. twelve years Business & Industry/Computer Applications (MS Office Suite) experience as a passionate classroom instructor.

I'm interested in opting "in"...but, I wanted to check your interest level first.  My Twitter handle is @GrowNWiserCoach

Best Regards, Ava.

Hi Ava,

Thanks for the reply - I am hoping to land a few teachers from British Columbia - but if I am unable to fill the numbers with all BC - then I may add some from other locations.

I will let you know.

Tina :)
