Google Drive

Hello Everyone.  I am interested in talking about Google Drive and how it could be used in schools.  The little I know about Drive makes me think of a lot of possibilities for our students.  We are a…Continue

Thanks, Sharon and David--I'll look into the GAPPs Integration for Moodle.

I'm looking forward to our move over to MOODLE 2 which integrates with Google Aps: Google Apps Integration

We use Google Apps for collaboration / email - Moodle for blended learning and wikispaces for wikis.  It is a good combo.

With Google Apps Edu competing with MS Live@Edu, how do school districts choose their integrated productivity suite and communications platforms? Coupled with open source options, the competition is tight. Does anyone have any pros or cons to outline based on their experience or from what they've heard?

I just wrote a blog post about using mail merge for personalization in distributed learning.  I used Google Docs and Spreadsheets to make it happen.  I thought thought that this group might be interested and wanted to drop a link to the post here: Mail Merging to Personalize Distributed Learning.

Hi Glenn,
I did find this discussion in terms of privacy issues. It doesn't appear that there are clear-cut rules,or even guidelines, as this is new territory. I'll check in with our SD to find out, though I don't think we have anything established. Thanks for the follow-up, Glenn.

Glenn:

How about on early next week? It looks like I'm available on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday afternoon.

Tamara - I need to get up to speed on the privacy issues that would face schools using Google Apps in Canada. Do you have any suggestions on what I should look at first? There are some other mail services that are student and staff targeted that come to mind (Gaggle for instance) but I'm not aware of Moodle integration for that service. As far as the setup goes if your IT department has worked with Moodle (especially if they did your Moodle install, but probably even if they've only added other plugins) they'll probably be able to get it running.
