What topics in the area of teaching with technology are you most interested in learning more about?
What technologies would be useful in the conversion of university faculty from (basically) government paid employees to independently financed professionals, such as lawyers, engineers, pharmacists, at the like - all of which do not require government funds to provide social goods that are at least of equal value.

Alternative University (Alt U)

The programming is on the wall.  All education will eventually be in virtual environments – as will most other sectors of human enterprise.  The changes this will bring to society, to its economy, infrastructure, inter-personal and social relations, and its institutions will be dramatic.

This proposal acknowledges the increasing utility, efficacy, and inevitable reliance upon remote, virtual, and augmented realities in the field of education.  Such eLearning will make the physical campuses of today obsolete.  They will make the modern university obsolete.

Alt U is the natural next step in arranging PSE, and it should be adopted as a serious social experiment in education that looks to the future.

I have developed a sound, comprehensive alternative to existing system(s) of post secondary education (PSE) that initially only appears radical. [It might also be applied to elementary and secondary education.]

This vehicle for PSE would convert the occupation of professor to a genuine profession, like law or engineering. PSE would then be offered under the auspices of a legislatively sanctioned, professional society or association - as are the equally valuable social commodities of healthcare, engineering, and legal services.

What I am soliciting is the assistance of anyone who is impressed by the project and willing to aid in its promotion and implementation.  To realize this alternative university we would need technology identified that would be useful in establishing and maintaining the relationships that constitute the university:  students, professors, and administrators.  Much of this technology already exists.

The consequences of this conversion to genuine professional status are highly favourable for all involved. For instance, NO government contribution is required AND tuition would be lower than present (increasing) costs. Releasing this kind of public money (in the billions annually) from the demands of the ineffective, bloated, and so to be unnecessary PSE system we have now means that many other ailing social commodities/services could receive an infusion of government monies.

Please contact me if you are interested in reading the prospectus and helping with the project. sp_warren@hotmail.com
