Technology Planning for Learning

Technology planning is not solely about technology tools. Certainly, when you sit down with your technology team, or your technology committee, you hash out the purchase requirements and try to justify them. But...that is such a small part of it. It's more than just a shopping list.

Having gone through a process…

Okay --we should definitely talk - many points of possible intersection I can see. Hmmm... I have two filmmakers coming out Oct 18 - 21 and possibly also the second week after that to work with Lucerne high school students on short docs ala the Telling the Stories of the Nikkei project we did in 2009 (about to be released on www.thenhier.ca; www.citizenshift.ca and www.ruralteachers.com-- you may want to use the student films as exemplars. I have found them powerful in that way with successive dig storytelling projects and dig media.

Am using the Benchmarks of Historical Thinking to establish baseline and post-project goals in this aspect of the Social Studies curriculum.

Would love to collaborate and connect with you. Let's figure out when we could do that...

Best,

Terry

Hey there Tamara!

Hope you had a great summer and look forward to a most excellent school year! Perhaps we can partner together -- I am working on a Growing Innovations grant exploring the history and values of Doukhobor community. Any possibility that a Grade 5/6/7 class at Sentinel may want to also study this area, do some elder interviews, podcast and add to a multi-school WordPress blog that we are creating between three elementary schools and Lucerne high school students? Looking at students adding their research, their questions, their images, interview podcasts and short dig media pieces to the blog... I am doing a tech training launch Sept 29 with our teachers and then run the project from October 3 - mid November...

Best,

Terry

Definitely agree with your thoughts on "more than a shopping list"...so often technology that is bought, especially software, goes by the waist side in such a short period of time.
